Why do we need to drink water? and How to make it a habit?

You may have already heard that our body is 70% water and many times you have also been told that it is essential to stay hydrated, but ... why is it important?

Why should we drink water?

Water is an essential element for the proper functioning of our body. Thanks to it we can not only eliminate toxins, it is also the means of transport of proteins, hydrates, vitamins and minerals that our body needs.

How much water do we need?

In adults it is recommended that on average they drink 3 to 2 liters of water per day. The needs vary depending on each organism and not all the water we need is obtained from this intake.

Food also provides water to our body, contributing to our hydration, but of the total amount that our body needs at least 80% must be provided directly and that is why it is recommended to take this liquid daily.

How not to forget it and make drinking water a habit?

  • Have a glass of water when you wake up: Incorporate this tip as the first action of the morning. Before breakfast and even, perhaps, before you start preparing for the day ahead. You can leave a glass next to your bed to never forget.
  • Always have a personal bottle on hand: A good method is to always have a container of water visible next to you. Have a small bottle with fresh water next to your computer, having it visible will make you remember to drink it.
  • Drink a glass before meals: Before you start eating, have a glass of water. Incorporate it as part of your lunch or dinner ritual.
  • Use your phone as an ally: If you are one of those people who is in the habit of creating alarms or using support applications for your daily task lists, you can create alerts during the day to remind you to drink a glass of fresh water.
